Charity Projects
There are three opportunities for financial support open to all those working in the UK plumbing industry.  These are the Life Award, the Support Fund and the Sport Awards..

Life Award
The BPEC Life Award, in memory of BPEC’s founding Chairman, Raymond J Brooks, has a simple objective; to use plumbing skills to enhance life in the UK or abroad.  The Award offers an opportunity to gain financial support for projects that recognise and facilitate the use of plumbing skills to benefit the life of people in the UK or abroad through the application of knowledge, imagination and determination. The Award offers a grant of up to £15,000.

Support Fund
The BPEC Support Fund aims to add value to projects/activities that would normally struggle to be achieved; they must also lead to a greater improvement of knowledge, skills and competence of individuals working in the plumbing industry throughout the UK or towards plumbing and heating work / support required by not-for-profit / non commercial organisations. Financial resources may be provided in the form of a non-repayable grant, the value of which will be up to a maximum of £1000.

Sport Awards
The Sport Awards will support a plumbing operative who is engaged in sport and has the ability to progress to the next level. The support will help to pay for new equipment, coaching or travelling expenses during the year. The aim of the Award is to add value to sporting projects/activities that lead to a greater improvement of knowledge, skills and competence of people working in the plumbing industry in a sporting context. Alternatively the Award could be used to support the development of local communities’ sporting facilities.

SkillPLUMB
One of the most important projects for BPEC (Training) Ltd is the annual Plumbing Skills Competition, responsibility of which has now been taken over by Summit Skills with BPEC now one of the official sponsors, in which apprentices throughout the UK compete for the title Young Plumber of the Year.

Asbestos Awareness
Over the last year BPEC has been working very closely with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to develop an asbestos awareness video and app. This is one of a series which BPEC will bring out over the next year, including Electrical Safety Awareness.
