Assessments / Part P Electrical

Part P of the Building Regulations requires that certain electrical work carried out within dwellings in England and Wales, is notified to the Local Authority Building Control (LABC) and a certificate of compliance issued to the householder.

Operatives who register with a competent person self-certification scheme are able to self-certify compliance with the Building Regulations whenever they carry out ‘notifiable’ electrical work.

From April 2013, individuals wishing to register as a designated qualified supervisor (QS) with a Part P Competent Person Scheme (CPS) will be required to hold a Level 3 NVQ Certificate in Installing, Testing and Ensuring Compliance of Electrical Installation Work in Dwellings (or equivalent). Please see the following press release from the EAS technical committee who have the responsibility for setting the CPS rules and requirements. A full list of Competent Person Scheme operators can be found at: communities.gov website.

BPEC Certification Ltd. currently has two Part P qualifications (level A and level B). Whilst these qualifications DO NOT satisfy the requirements for those wishing to join a CPS, they are suitable for operatives who are working under the under the supervision of a qualifying supervisor (QS).
